JOSEPH GREGORY

Source: Waveland Independent newspaper, Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana 8 August 1913

A telegram was received here last week by T.M. Sharp saying that Joseph Gregory had shot himself at Augusta, Kansas. A letter which followed said that he had shot the top off his head with a shotgun, on account of financial troubles. Mr. Gregory was a member of the Ben Hur and in sending in his assessment about a week before his death, he said that he was very blue, as there had been no rain since he had planted his corn and that there was no prospect for food for his family or feed for his stock. When he lived here, he worked for S.J. Milligan. His brother, Doc Gregory ran the hotel now owned by Ed Cuppy. -- kbz
